Our approach

Two methodologies, one philosophy. For our youngest learners (ages 3–6) we follow the Montessori method — sensory-based, multi-age, movement as part of learning, freedom within limits. For ages 6 and up, we follow the Acton learner-driven model — self-paced mastery using the latest educational technology, Socratic discussions, and project-based quests in close-knit studios.

Both methods rest on the same belief: children are uniquely gifted, made in God's image, and capable of more than school usually asks of them. We set high standards, build close relationships with every learner, and walk alongside them through their work — coaching, encouraging, and holding them accountable to the goals they themselves committed to.

Our story

As Northern Virginia parents raising creative, faith-filled, confident kids, we tried it all — non-religious Montessori, religious Montessori, traditional religious, and public schools. Nothing fit. When we homeschooled our children during COVID, we asked ourselves the question: what should young learners be taught, and how?

That was the point of no return for us. Acton made our dream a reality. In addition to project-based learning, Acton leverages adaptive learning technology to allow learning at your own pace, and incorporates the genius of the Socratic model to foster critical thinking and dialogue skills. The selling point: Acton isn't a brand-new idea — it has been running and expanding since 2009 with a global network of 300+ affiliates. Unlike a franchise, affiliates have the flexibility to innovate while sharing a common vision.

In July 2021 we won the audition and were selected to represent Acton Academy in Falls Church, Virginia. We are bringing this revolutionary approach to our community and actively looking for like-minded families to join.
